🎤 What if the Church’s tradition of prayer is bigger—and more alive—than you realized? In this talk, we’ll explore the movement from deep, contemplative intimacy with God to the active, charismatic expression of prayer. Drawing from personal experience, Dr. Bassett will share how charismatic prayer fits within the richness of the Catholic tradition, with a particular focus on the prophetic and healing dimensions of ministry. Whether you’re new to charismatic prayer or unsure what to make of it, this evening will offer a grounded, practical invitation to grow in prayer—both personally and with others.
🗣️ Dr. Eliot Bassett is a former Army doctor turned hospitalist who now brings both medical care and the healing power of the Holy Spirit to his patients. A convert to the Catholic faith, he has experienced a profound transformation through encountering the Holy Spirit and now integrates that faith into his daily work. A 2024 graduate of the Encounter School of Ministry, Eliot is a member of the Brothers and Sisters of Charity and lives as a contemplative in the heart of the world. He and his wife, Lisa, live in Louisville with their four children.

🎤 What can the lives of the popes teach us about the Church today? The history of the papacy is filled with saints, sinners, and moments that have shaped the Church for centuries. Join Fr. Petri as he explores the story of the popes—from the early Church to today—and what their legacy reveals about the mission and leadership of the Church.
🗣️ Fr. Thomas Petri, O.P. is a priest born in Detroit and raised in Kentucky. He joined the Order of Preachers (the Dominicans) in 2003 and was ordained in 2009. Since then, he has earned advanced degrees, served in a wide variety of roles in his community and the wider Church—including as President of the Pontifical Faculty at the Dominican House of Studies—published scholarly work, given many lectures, and become a frequent contributor on EWTN.
After 20 years of living and serving on the East Coast, he’s happy to be back in the Bluegrass State and now serves at St. Louis Bertrand Parish in Louisville. Fr. Petri brings a deep love for the Church’s intellectual tradition—and a gift for making it clear, engaging, and relevant.

🎤 We live in a world where people have become masters of avoiding inconveniences and suffering. Yet our Catholic faith calls us to embrace the cross and follow Jesus. In this talk, Maria will share real stories from Catholic saints—particularly Blessed Chiara Corbella Petrillo—as well as her own experiences, exploring the gift of redemptive suffering and how to find joy even in life’s challenges.
🗣️ Maria Cossell is a veteran Catholic educator with over 16 years of experience teaching in grade and high schools. She discovered St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body over a decade ago, completing 10 courses at the Theology of the Body Institute. Through her teaching, Maria uses Theology of the Body to help others understand the beauty and depth of the Church’s vision of the human person and the Christian life. She has taught students, spoken in eight dioceses across the U.S., and written curriculum for two Catholic publishing companies. She and her husband, Justin, are newlyweds (just six months in!) and loving life together in Westfield, IN.

🎤 Many Catholics feel a tension between faith and science—especially when it comes to topics like evolution and the age of the Earth. Join Catholic paleontologist Dr. Kate Bulinski as she explores how the two are not in conflict, but actually work together to reveal the truth about our world and our place in it.
🗣️ Dr. Kate Bulinski is an invertebrate paleontologist who studies ecosystems from the Paleozoic Era and loves teaching her students, friends, and family (and really, anyone who will listen) about all things geological. She is a professor at Bellarmine University and devotes significant time to engaging in faith-and-science dialogue.
She and her husband, Deacon Ned Berghausen, are passionate about building a sustainable future for their four kids—a nine-year-old and six-year-old triplets.
