FAQs
What should my child bring?
As you are packing, keep in mind the weather for the weekend. The retreat center has gender-specific bunk rooms and bathrooms with showers.
Comfortable clothing for two nights and three days. (We will be attending Mass on Sunday.)
Modest pajamas, slippers, robe, etc.
Winter coat, hat, and gloves.
Toiletries (toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, soap, brush, etc.)
Washcloth and bath towel
Reusable water bottle
Snacks and 2-liter beverages to share (water and lemonade will be provided)
You might be surprised to see that youth are not required to bring a Bible, journal, rosary, etc. to the retreat. No worries! Participants will receive these items for use while on retreat and as a gift to take home for future use.
My child has an extracurricular event that overlaps with the retreat. Can I pick them up and bring them back?
Due to the nature of retreat, we do not allow youth to come and go, arrive late, or leave early. Retreats are not merely to teach youth about the faith, but to also give them a space to step away from everything in their daily life and be immersed in this experience. We understand that it’s a sacrifice say no to other activities, but we also believe that the Lord will reward all who are generous to Him!
Can my child’s dietary restriction be accommodated?
We will be using the Mt. St. Francis cafeteria for all meals while on retreat. At the time of registration, please indicate any dietary restrictions for your child. We will communicate these to the chef and contact you if further information is needed. In addition, we will have a snack table and beverages available throughout the retreat to all participants.
Who is hosting the retreat?
Catalyst Catholic is the office of youth and young adult ministry for the New Albany Deanery, which is composed of the 16 Catholic parishes in Clark, Floyd, and Harrison counties.
