Do not settle for less.”
Is this retreat for me?
If you're a Catholic high school senior, then yes.
The Summit is for every Catholic senior—whether you've been active in your parish for years, haven't been around church much lately, or have never been on a retreat before. You don't have to know anyone, have all the answers, or be "good at faith." Just be willing to step away from the noise for one weekend and see what God might have in store for you.
Come as you are. Bring your questions, your doubts, your hopes, and your story. We'll take care of the rest.
What to Expect
Inspiring witness talks from young adult Catholics
Small group conversations with other seniors
Personal journaling and reflection
Time for recreation and building friendships
Sacraments: Mass, Reconciliation, and Eucharistic Adoration
Plenty of free time to enjoy Mount St. Francis
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
Senior year is full of milestones, decisions, and anticipation about what comes next. The Summit gives students the opportunity to pause in the middle of it all—to reflect on where they've been, encounter Christ in a deeper way, and prepare for the next chapter of their lives.
Throughout the weekend, seniors will hear witness talks from young adults, spend time in prayer and the Sacraments, build friendships with other Catholic seniors from across the deanery, and discover that they don't have to navigate the future alone.
Your encouragement matters. A simple invitation from a parent is often the reason a teen decides to attend.
If cost is a concern, please know that scholarships are available through the generosity of our donors. We never want finances to prevent a senior from attending.
-
Absolutely. The Summit welcomes all high school seniors from our deanery parishes—whether they’re deeply involved or have been away for a while.
-
That’s okay! Small groups are intentionally designed to help teens connect quickly. Many participants say they leave with new friendships and stronger ties to their faith community.
-
No. The Summit is intentionally designed as a complete retreat experience, and we are unable to accommodate late arrivals, early departures, or leaving and returning during the weekend.
We know that may mean missing another activity, but stepping away from the normal pace of life is part of what makes retreats so impactful. Giving seniors one uninterrupted weekend to be fully present with God, their peers, and themselves is a gift worth protecting.
-
The Summit is offered by Catalyst Catholic, the office of youth ministry for the New Albany Deanery, which serves 16 Catholic parishes in Clark, Floyd, and Harrison counties.
The retreat is staffed by trained young adult leaders and volunteers from across the deanery. All adults have completed Safe Parish training and background checks.
-
Yes. Meals are served in the Mt. St. Francis cafeteria. Please list dietary needs at registration, and we’ll coordinate with the chef. We’ll also provide snacks and beverages throughout the weekend.
-
Please list any health needs on the registration form. Medications can be kept and administered by your teen, or by an adult leader if requested. A nurse/first aid contact will be available on site.
-
Yes. Scholarship requests are reviewed only by Catalyst staff, and we work to discreetly cover costs so that every teen who wants to attend can attend.
-
We want the retreat to be a chance for seniors to step away from distractions and be fully present to God, themselves, and their peers.
Participants will have a limited opportunity to check their phones during the weekend. Outside of that time, phones will be securely stored by retreat staff so everyone can be fully present.
Parents will be provided with the retreat leader’s contact number prior to the retreat beginning in case any needs arise.
-
Pack for comfort and the weather. The retreat center has gender-specific bunk rooms and bathrooms with showers.

Comfortable clothing for two nights/three days (including Sunday Mass attire)
Modest pajamas, slippers, robe, etc.

Toiletries (toothbrush, shampoo, soap, hairbrush, etc.)
Washcloth and bath towel
Reusable water bottle
Snacks and a 2-liter beverage to share (water and lemonade provided)
Note: Youth do not need to bring a Bible, journal, or rosary. Each participant will receive these items on retreat as a gift to take home.
-
We sure do! The retreat concludes around 4:00 PM, giving families plenty of time to make it home before kickoff.
