For over 20 years, the parishes of the New Albany Deanery have participated in Summer Daze, a weekly service program for youth each Tuesday in June. This event is open to all youth who are incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders (in the fall of 2024). This staple of parish and deanery summer programming allows middle school youth to participate in a mission trip experience, close to home while meeting other Catholic youth from the Clark, Floyd, and Harrison County parishes.

Each day begins at your local parish. Chaperones will then drive youth to a service site in the Southern Indiana / Metro Louisville area from 9am until 12pm. We will be serving in at Aramie Acres, St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities, Blue River Services, the Ronald McDonald House of Kentuckiana, Lighthouse Maternity Center, Louisville Composting, The Brave Way Home, Franciscan Kitchen, and many more fantastic partner organizations!

At noon each day, the parish group will pause for prayer and a sack lunch. We will be focusing our discussions on the lives of saints who put the works of mercy into action in their daily lives. After all, we are all called to be saints!

To round out the day, all of the participating parishes will gather for an afternoon of fun and community-building at the following locations:

June 4: Malibu Jack’s Indoor Family Fun Park
June 11: Relic Tour at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church and
Day of Play at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church
June 18: Xtremnasium Trampoline Park
June 25: Clarksville Strike & Spare Family Fun Center

The cost of Summer Daze is $20 per day which covers a Summer Daze t-shirt, supplies for the service sites, and tickets to our afternoon social activity. Youth are asked to pack a water bottle and lunch each day. Youth are asked to wear their Summer Daze t-shirt each week, as well as closed-toed shoes. Flip flops and slides are not permitted as they pose a safety risk at our service sites.

Registration deadline will be ten days prior to the first Summer Daze date. The last day to register is Saturday, May 22th, 2024 at 11:59 pm.
