SafeParish Requirements for Athletic Officials
Beginning with the 2026 season, all officials serving in Catalyst Catholic athletic programs must maintain an active SafeParish certification.
This requirement applies to all officials working Catalyst Catholic athletic events, including volleyball, basketball, soccer, and track.
What You Need to Do
Create a SafeParish account (if you do not already have one)
Submit the background check and code of conduct requirements
Complete the required online training
The whole process takes about one hour.

Compensation
Officials who complete the SafeParish requirements will receive a $50 payment for their time upon completion through EventLink.

Catalyst Catholic and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis are committed to providing a safe environment for all children and young people participating in parish and ministry activities.
SafeParish training helps ensure that all adults serving in youth ministry settings—including athletic officials—understand best practices for creating safe and welcoming environments. This requirement is consistent with expectations for coaches, volunteers, staff, clergy, and other adults serving in Archdiocesan ministries.

The training module takes approximately 45 minutes. It is available online at any point, and can be accessed in English or Spanish.

Yes. SafeParish is required for all officials serving at Catalyst Catholic athletic events, regardless of whether they are paid or volunteer.

SafeParish certification remains valid for five years.

If you have already completed SafeParish training through your parish, school, or another Archdiocesan ministry and your account remains active, you likely do not need to complete the training again. If you're unsure of your status, please contact us.
