Thank you for sharing your time and talent so generously. Your presence will make a real difference for the youth attending NCYC—and you’ll quickly discover that you are blessed in return.

In our most recent email, you received the date, time, and location of your shift within the service area. When you arrive at your shift, you will learn your responsibilities from the leaders who have organized the activity. However, you can also see the basic instructions here in advance:

Join St. Vincent de Paul Indy for a powerful Food Insecurity Simulation—an interactive, role-playing experience that helps participants step into the shoes of individuals and families who struggle with consistent access to nutritious, affordable food. Volunteers guide the youth through the exhibit and engage them with prepared discussion questions. See instructions here.

Weaving God’s Blessings provides a two-for-one service opportunity! Care for the environment while helping our homeless neighbors in need by providing a source of comfort and dignity. With guidance from parishioners of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, youth and volunteers will turn donated plastic bags into waterproof sleeping mats. Volunteers will assist youth in the cutting and weaving process. See instructions here.

Our neighbor does not always live right next door. Join Hearts In Motion in serving those in need across South and Central America. By preparing bags made of recycled tshirts, you’ll help lighten the load for those who bring healing and hope to communities around the globe. Volunteers assist youth in cutting and tying t-shirts into bags. See instructions here.

As our climate changes, everyone—including those who are unhoused—faces greater need during natural disasters. Join Catholic Climate Covenant in making a difference by assembling easy-to-carry disaster relief kits that provide comfort and necessities when they’re needed most. Volunteers guide the youth through the exhibit, assist with packing kits, and engage them with prepared discussion questions. See instructions here.

Please note: If you and a friend or spouse have been placed at different stations, don’t be concerned—all activities are located within the same space, work together, and are visible to one another. In some cases, we simply couldn’t accommodate everyone’s first choice of task. Thank you for your flexibility and good spirit!
